Daystar’s Addison House is operated on a non-profit, inter-denominational basis and provides assistance equally
and without regard to race, religion, gender or ethnic origin.

We are a facility for the homeless where they may regain a measure of dignity by providing a hot shower, clean clothes and a meal. We also provide sleeping bags, tents and items needed to survive in the woods. We offer our skills with computers and phones to help them get back on their feet by filing for disability, food stamps, veterans benefits and getting in touch with other organizations for help. Welcome the Stranger

I started this mission with my own story firmly in mind. My sister Cindy Addison was raising a beautiful son, had a full time job and a steady marriage when something happened in her mind in her late 30’s. She literally disappeared with her vehicle and though my family searched diligently for her, police, private detectives, no trace could be found. It was assumed she was dead and we reluctantly gave up. I’ll never forget the morning in my mom’s kitchen when the phone rang and it was Cindy after 5 years of silence. She had traveled cross country doing odd jobs and listening to the demons in her mind when it hit her to call home. A bus ticket was sent and after tears and hugs, I asked her how she survived? This in when I learned that if you want to disappear in the United States-you can. She met church groups that would feed her, kind strangers that let her do odd jobs to earn gas money and slept in her van. Cindy passed away 2 years ago of throat cancer and it is in her memory that we opened this new facility-hoping to give that kindness that she experienced to others.

Executive Director

For I was hungry and you gave me food,
I was thirsty and you gave me drink,
I was a stranger and you made me welcome,
lacking clothes and you clothed me,
sick and you visited me,
in prison and you came to see me.

Then the upright will say to him in reply, “Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink?
When did we see you a stranger and made you welcome, lacking clothes and clothe you?
And the King will answer, “In truth I tell you, in so far as you did this to one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did it to me.” ---Matthew 25:35,37
